十里红妆为誰铺
[shí lĭ hóng zhuāng wéi shuí pū]
literally 'Ten li of red decorations laid out for who'. According to historical traditions during weddings in Ancient China, bridegroom will decorate streets and lanes all the way to his home in red (a signifier of happiness) when picking up brides, and 'who' implies she does not know for whom she has been doing such great preparations
