廉与怜

'Lian Yu Lian' is a combination of words that sound similar in Chinese but have very different meanings. The first character '廉 (lián)' means honesty or integrity while the second '怜 (lián)' means pity or compassion. This could imply duality in human nature and also might be referring to the ancient historical figure, Lian Po, a famous general who valued righteousness and later felt pity for the kingdom after he had misunderstood them.
