枯守青灯
[kū shŏu qīng dēng]
It refers to someone who is in the state of waiting alone and in solitude for a long time, often expressing loneliness and desolation, or someone guarding their inner peace under a tranquil environment, which could have the implication of asceticism and spiritual cultivation. It originates from traditional culture where practitioners would accompany the Buddha with dim lamps lit.
