Literally 'To the west of the old city'. An elegantly melancholic expression, probably evoking nostalgia for a particular place or phase in the past that's gone by. Often associated with old stories, memories tied with locations. It gives off the feeling of yearning for something or somewhere that cannot be attained anymore.
